About Jill

JillJill has been practising Shiatsu for over 18 years and is a fully qualified and insured practitioner. She is registered with the Shiatsu Society and the Complimentary Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). Having initially trained at the London College of shiatsu she then went on to do a post graduate training at the Shiatsu College.

In 2001, via ‘The Healing Hands Network’ Jill took the gift of shiatsu to the victims of war torn Sarajevo in Bosnia. She worked with some amputees and also a number of traumatized individuals. One woman started talking again after years of silence, another man could not sleep or eat properly, he was so frightened after his experiences. Shiatsu enabled him to start living again with ease.

Jill is also a fully qualified and insured clinical nutritionist. Her first training was with the Howell College of Holistic Health in 1992. She focuses strongly on gut detoxification as a first step to raising immunity and transforming chronic health problems. She has continued studying with metabolics Ltd. and Nutri Ltd, both companies involved in leading edge research and development in nutritional therapy.

Functional medicine emphasises a definable and teachable process of integrating multiple knowledge bases within a pragmatic intellectual matrix that focuses on functionality at many levels, rather than a single treatment for a single diagnosis. Functional medicine uses the patient’s story as a key tool for integrating diagnosis, signs and symptoms, and evidence of clinical imbalances into a comprehensive approach to improve both the patient’s environmental inputs and his or her physiological function.

The Institute for Functional Medicine teaches health care professional’s how to apply these principles in practice through an intensive 5 day training course called Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice™.
